For more than 260 years, through three industrial revolutions, Lloyd’s Register has ensured that ships, their crews and their cargoes are safe to go to sea. Our archive and library offer unparalleled reserves of data and knowledge relating to the evolution of maritime safety, and the complex factors that have driven and continue to drive this process today. The Heritage and Education Centre will mine these reserves for insight that can help to shape a safer future.
In order to shape this future, the Heritage & Education Centre undertakes a diverse range of activities, from research and outreach projects to grant funding initiatives. All of these activities utilise the unique networks of both the Lloyd's Register Foundation and Lloyd's Register Group, ensuring HEC can play an active role in telling the story of the evolution of maritime safety on a global scale.
We look to champion this story by deploying innovative technologies and practices to provide the most engaging and accessible resources, whether it’s through our digital archive or through in-person experiences at our visitor centre.
