The Visitor Centre

A state-of-the-art Archive and Library at the heart of the City of London

The team at the Heritage & Education Centre are working towards welcoming you back to a new and improved space soon.

Our Visitor Centre will enable you to explore the unique maritime collections of our archive and a library containing more than 60,000 books collected since 1852, spanning from maritime history to naval engineering and safety at sea. At the core of the Library is the complete collection of Lloyd’s Register of Ships, published from 1764 onwards.

At the Visitor Centre, the public will be able to delve into our vision of a sustainable future. Our themes at heart include maritime safety and a safer ocean economy. Our latest programmes, among which Learning From the Past, stem from the lessons learned through the evidence we collected in more than 250 years of service.

To be housed in our heritage-rich Collcutt Building, at 71 Fenchurch Street, London, the Visitor Centre will provide a friendly environment for everyone. Our promise of a meaningful visitor experience means that we will place you, the visitor, at the heart of what we do, so you can have an enjoyable, informative and memorable experience with us.

When we reopen, we encourage experts, family historians and general enthusiasts to nurture their interest and intrigue in maritime history using our collections.
