Periodical reports of survey carried out by Lloyd's Register surveyors containing details of the vessel at the time of survey. Reports can include information on a ship's build, ownership, voyages, registration, machinery, materials, repair, classification and loss. There are a wide variety of specific types that document the changes made to a vessel while classed by Lloyd's Register.
The collection houses a diverse range of construction plans and technical drawings of vessels, boilers and machinery. These provide key information regarding the construction, arrangement, material and dimensions of ships surveyed by Lloyd's Register.
Clerical forms relating to the particulars, amendments and postponement of ship surveys. These records can also include comments concerning material tests, ship loss accounts, freeboard verification and records of ownership.
Photographs of vessels surveyed by Lloyd's Register. These can include images of vessels at sea or in dock, and frequently document damages and loss.
Official certificates issued by Lloyd's Register and other testing and proving organisations. These document the classification, testing, quality, condition, and survey of vessels, boilers, machinery, anchors, chain cables and freeboard.
Letters, notes and memoranda received by Lloyd's Register surveyors, shipbuilders, owners, and underwriters. These typically concern issues surrounding the construction, classification, survey, repair, salvage and loss of vessels.
